Zombies can come at you from any angle. When they get close, they will quickly drain your character's life. So, attack them as rapidly as possible while being strategic about when to reload. Running out of ammunition during a battle might allow zombies to quickly approach you, especially if they are coming in for the murder.
You have to go to different parts of the city to defend them or finish important tasks. There are tougher tasks as you go along. Zombies get stronger and come at you in bigger groups. To stay alive longer, improve your guns and ammo and use bandages to heal yourself when you're being attacked.
As you finish tasks and unlock new weapons that give you more power, you move up in rank. Also, use the prizes you earn to improve your weapons and ammunition. It can be hard to beat Venom zombies and other harder zombies without them.
